A native of Taiwan, Stephanie Hong came to Lexington over 28 years ago to pursue a Master Degree in Criminal Justice from Eastern Kentucky University and had since made Lexington her home. In the past 25 years, Stephanie has been involved in various local boards as well as regional board of education, arts and human services, such as the Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) Equity Council; Bluegrass Human Services Advisory Committee, International Book Project Advisory board chair; Leadership Lexington Steering Committee chair; LexArts board; Downtown Lexington Corporate Board and Lexington Community Radio board. Besides board involvement, Stephanie volunteers on the weekends for the Independent Transportation Network (ITN) as a driver taking elderly or vision impaired people to places for the enrichment of their quality of lives.
Professionally, Stephanie had worked with the victims of domestic violence; however, her passion is in working with youth. She believes in aspiring young people to dream big and reach their full potential. In her lines of work, she emphasizes giving the equitable resources, opportunities, and support to youth in high-risk situations, they ALL can succeed.
In her spare time, she enjoys walking her dog and attending local opera theater. International travel has been her hobby/therapy and she has traveled to 42 different countries. She enjoys seeing the commonality of different cultures while appreciates the diversity of each culture that brings to her life.
